We travel the world,
capturing the beauty of blue...
Kyano is an artistic duo created by Charles and Dora.
Photography and textiles are the media of their creative expression.
Kyano was born three years ago with a simple desire, the desire to make a series of cyanotype prints around the Cyclades. Dora and Charles worked together to build their dream.
Born in Greece, Dora is a designer, driven by her natural curiosity and fascination with any and all forms of art, she regularly experiments with forgotten techniques & natural materials to create innovative textures, patterns & forms.
Charles is a French cinematographer and photographer, inspired by the light, textures and beauty found in nature.
Together, they travel, capturing shades and hues, the depth and magic of the sky.
This first impulse pushed us much further than what we have ever imagined, towards new horizons...
The color blue chose us.
The cyanotype process was one of the first non-silver techniques used to create photographic images. The technique was invented in 1842 by the English scientist and astronomer John Frederick William Herschel. It was not utilized in mainstream photography and was adopted as a copy technique, becoming known by the term "blueprint", with its blue background reproductions of large architectural and mechanical drawings. It was also used by the English botanist Anna Atkins to create a series of cyanotype limited-edition books that documented ferns and other plant life.

It creates an atmosphere to
be danced in.
The clothes we wear, go with us around the world. What we wear leaves an impression on others.
The color blue chose us; Between the ocean and sky, we walk along paths leading to a discovery of the world and ourselves. The journey is defined not by the destination but rather the documentation of life lived. Our clothing is embedded with story and memory — worn for every season, packed in a suitcase, adding color and leaving impressions. We believe that clothing is more than fabric. It creates an atmosphere to be danced in, worn and washed along the adventure of life.
The theme of our second collection is “Soleil beu”. It’s a photography collection developed with the cyanotype technique. Cyanotype is the origin of all of our patterns and prints applied to fabric, ceramic and paper.
All photos have been taken in the Cyclades and, more precisely, in the islands of Antiparos, Paros, Folegandros and Santorini.
