Cyanotype Reimagined I
For many years, we have kept a collection of cyanotypes that never made it into exhibitions. Although they didn't meet our standards at the time, we could never bring ourselves to throw them away. Each print still held something beautiful: rich blue tones, traces of light, unexpected textures, and the unique character of the handmade process.
Drawing on her background in fashion and textile design, Dora began to see these prints differently, not as failed cyanotypes, but as materials waiting to be transformed.
 
Created from two original cyanotype photographs printed on Arches Platine 100% cotton paper (310 gr), this artwork is part of an ongoing exploration of reimagined cyanotypes. Through cutting, layering, and recomposition, fragments of different landscapes come together to create a new abstract composition where memory, light, and texture intersect.
These are not simply recycled cyanotypes; they are transformed cyanotypes.
The story is not about failure, but about transformation. About embracing imperfection, reimagining materials, and allowing something unexpected to emerge.
Each fragment carries traces of its former life while contributing to an entirely new visual narrative, inviting the viewer to discover shifting landscapes, hidden horizons, and their own interpretations within the work.
